receipt of apple care

Forgive me if this is in the wrong forum.

I recently bought a new Imac through the online apple store. I also bought the Apple Care along with it. I understand that I automatically get registered when the two are purchased together. My question is this... Am I supposed to receive a physical box for Apple care at my door? If so, I think it may have been lost in the delivery process, as I should have received it by now. Or am I worrying about nothing because I'm not supposed to receive a physical box?

Thanks in advance for your help.

imac, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

I've never bought a computer with Applecare from the online store, so I'm not sure about that process, but... I've purchased Applecare elsewhere and registered it online. Once Apple accepts the registration, they send you a confirmation email and, later, a certificate by mail (which may take several weeks). The only thing in the little box is the TechTool CD, which you can download, and a piece of paper/booklet with the registration number and their terms and conditions. So, you're not really missing out on anything, but I would call Apple and ask if/when they are sending you the Applecare certificate.

Your proof(s) of purchase email and receipt of AppleCare and the Computer
which was covered under the Plan, may be enough to provide proof should
your computer require walk-in service; and your hardware should be in the
AppleCare support computer services uses to verify prior to product repair.

{For my computer issue, when one of mine required an authorized tech to
look into a defect, ahead of time, I printed a copy of the purchase email
and the AppleCare email, and the service provider (not an Apple store)
kept them. Ultimately, I did my own troubleshooting and AppleCare told
the closest service provider to just replace the parts per my request;
since the endless effort of the less than stellar company was poor and
my own troubleshooting constantly gave me reproducible proof. They
were unwilling or unable to troubleshoot my computer, but I was able.}

A call to Sales support should give you a satisfactory reply; and anything
short of authentic discussion with an actual representative is speculative.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

Usually you would receive the AppleCare box before the computer arrives. I've purchased from the apple online store and I've received the AppleCare box which contains the papers and tech CD. Check with the previously mentioned site and see if you're already registered first. I would contsact apple customer service and ask why you didn't receive the AppleCare box.

If your computer was shipped with AppleCare's extended protection plan
purchased and activated on the computer, and the computer arrived
already, check your receipts including email receipts, for documentation.

You can also check to see if that AppleCare appears active through an
Online Service Assistant, by entering your products serial number.

Online Service Assistant: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

The documentation accompanying the computer's purchase is used
for proof of purchase, and if/when AppleCare extended plan is added
to the original purchase, documentation (via email and perhaps later
via mail or to a valid street address) may also be sent. Apple Sales
support has a phone number, so you should discuss this with them.

The online service assistant page will require authentication to some
extent before it will show you anything; but there should be evidence
of the extended AppleCare plan, if it was enrolled after purchase, there
and the expiry date would be evidence, since the total time should be
indicative of the complementary first year of service, plus two years.
And a total of three years for both service and support on the product.

Purchases through the online store are quite easy to track, and the
validation of the AppleCare you opted to be active with the computer
should appear on your receipt from the online store; the email and
possibly some additional documentation. So, as suggested earlier,
contact Apple to see if you should be expecting paper documentation
and or any other AppleCare physical items sent to you. Perhaps not.
The link above should show a confirmation of an active AppleCare.
The duration should confirm if the automatic enrollment was done.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
