iPod Shuffle (2nd gen) and iTunes 8.1.1.10 not synching...

My iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen seems to be unable to sync with iTunes 8.1.1.10 -- in a way. It is recognized in iTunes (shows up in sidebar, correctly labeled; I can view its content) and it will charge and autofill. However, it will not sync with iTunes and communicate playcounts or show me in any way that the autofill is occurring or has occurred.

I have used the "Restore" function and it did not correct the problem. Additionally, when I try to File>Sync iPod, the option is unavailable (not a clickable button/option). 😟 I really would like to be able to sync my playcounts again...

Try downloading the iPod Reset Utility ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1238 or http://support.apple.com/downloads/iPodReset_Utility_1_0_4_forWindows)from Apple and reset the iPod and then try adding the songs by Auto fill.. This works for me...

But only problem is that when ever you need add a song, we need to reset each and every time and then Update the play list and then do the auto fill...

*Note:*
_The process completely erases all music and data and reinstalls the iPod software version listed below:_

_* iPod shuffle (1st generation) - iPod Software version 1.1.5_
_* iPod shuffle (2nd generation) - iPod Software version 1.0.4_

Whoa there, mate. I wouldn't be so quick to "confirm" anything. The problem is NOT specific to Windows 7 64bit. I have one computer running Vista, and another running XP SP3. The problem exists with both. Although I haven't seen an answer or a fix from any source, especially Apple, it seems to be related to the newer versions of iTunes. I tried downloading an older version, but as part of the installation process the &@*!-er upgraded itself! I'm going to return my new 2nd Gen Shuffle. Whether I try another Apple product remains to be seen.

Yep, I can only add songs to my shuffle at the moment when I reset the thing and autofill when it pops up in iTunes again.

This has to be fixed soon!!
