Safari and Windows Media Player Plugin help

Does anyone have the same issue as I do with the Microsoft Wndows Media Player plugin?

When I go to a site with video, ebaums world or m90 as an example. I watch videos there and the Windows Media Plugin launches fine and the video play for bit, then it just starts stuttering along all jerky. Buffers some more, or just stops midway. If I download teh video and open it in Windows Media Player application, it palys fine.

But if you access the same video clip on the website on a PC, the video clip plays perfectly. No stuttering or jerkyness. And plays through all the way. And on the PC, all of the buttons work in the plugin. Fast Forward and Rewind for example.

Using the latest version of Windows Media Player, 9.0.0 (3307) and OS 10.4.2 on a very fast cable connection. Safari 2.0.1 (412.5)

Any help appreciated.

Hi musicmaker,

I know you answered your question a LONG time ago, but nobody answered, and I just came across it. I KNOW you are still having this problem, as I am, and I am sure everybody else is as well. What you've basically described is what everyone here knows, and that's that WMP *****, especially for the Mac. It's over 2 years old, and no updates in sight. I have a fast cable, played with all of the settings, and tried everything on ebaums as well, but WMP still hems and haws and caughs and rasps. My only solution has been to download the videos if I don't want to just "preview" them, the Microsoft way! Then I just delete the ones I don't want after full viewing.

I've seen the same at work as well. WMP plays everything fine on a PC. I feel your pain.
