purchasing songs

Why am I now paying 1.29 to download some songs but .99 for others? I wish everything was still .99 that was much better and worth downloading songs!

Apple agreed to implement variable pricing and charge more for songs in higher demand in exchange for being able to sell music in an unprotected and higher quality format.

Have you checked other online music download stores? Try walmart.com and amazon.com. They have different prices for the same song.

By the way, all of them "sell music in an unprotected and higher quality format." They use MP3 format at 256 kb/s, which is compatible with iTunes/iPod and virtually every other player.

Not sure what you like, but I picked "Poker Face" as an example, and checked the prices just now:

iTunes Store: $1.29

Amazon.com 99 cents

Walmart.com 94 cents

You are of course free to shop where you like, but be aware that prices are not all the same.

As mentioned, Amazon and Walmart use MP3 format, which will play in iTunes.

You should also be aware that Apple's variable pricing means some prices are actually CHEAPER than they were.

UK : 79p per track fixed

UK : 59p 79p or 99p variable

Looks like I too will be going to Walmart and Amazon to get my music. I have been an apple and Itunes supporter since 2002. Not any more, I will get my music else where.

Before I spoke too soon Amazon and Walmart are also charging 1.25 for the popular songs. Apple probably still the best bet, unless you're a thief....

Any one help please?? had problem downloading 10.5.7 so reverted back to 10.5.6 I have now lost all apps and and purchased songs, How can I find them should not have to pay gain. tried the authorized computer bit and cant find them when searching,

What does being a thief have to do with anything?

Apple sells fairly good unprotected AAC files.

That's great if that is what you want, but some of us want better formats, including lossless, and more indie artists and other things Apple doesn't have.

It's the labels that are the thieves in this industry. The artists and the music lovers are the victims.

If you didn't back up your music library... that's not a great situation.

That says you can only download a song once and have to pay again to get it again.

I would still give Apple a call and explain the situation.
