Old Microsoft Trackball Explorer prefs won't work

Hi

I want to use this USB device as it has customizable buttons but can't get them working even though I downloaded the Intellipoint software prefs.

Anybody got one?

Which set of drivers did you download? I found these: [http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14205&vid=158624] but they say for 10.1-10.3 so they may well not work with Tiger.

Then there's this one [http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Drivers/Microsoft-IntelliPoint.shtml] which again says "10.2 or later", so again may pre-date Tiger.

I know nothing about the device but if it is old hardware it may simply lack the driver support. Maybe try a third party solution as in [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=983189&tstart=32]

thanks for your help, unfortunately no free solutions work and I just can't bring myself to spend £20 when all I want to do is multi-select items with the mouse! (I am skint)
