Opening a .docm file

From my understanding, a .docm file is an office 2007 file with embedded macros. My instructor sent me a .docm file via email, and I have been unable to open it with iWork 09. My buddy who got the same email was able to open it with his version of windows. Any ideas on why iWork wont open it?

Macbook 5,1, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

It can't read the embedded macros.

Try opening it with the free neooffice office "clone." It can't hurt and will be cheaper than going with ms office.
