iPhone Restore Crash!!

If you selected restore from your iPhone's backup - which is the default setting when restoring, was the error message provided while your iPhone was being restored from your iPhone's backup?

If so, it sounds like there is a problem with your iPhone's backup.

Try placing your iPhone into recovery mode.

Does this mean you followed all the steps including making sure all computer drivers are up to date, connecting your iPhone to different powered USB ports on your computer, restarting your computer, verifying iPhone driver/service installation, and re-installing iTunes?

In that case, sorry but I'm out of suggestions.

Lemme just bump in here for a second... I have been remote accessing Moondio's computer trying to solve this.

The steps we have attempted:
-Repairing iTunes from a freshly downloaded iTunes Installer
-Restarting and rebooting the iPhone multiple times multiple ways
-Restating both Apple Mobile Device service and iPod Service
-Restarting iTunesHelper.exe
-Using iTunes Diagnostics utility, which came up green except for the connectivity test.

What SEEMS to be the problem at the moment is the fact that whenever the iPhone is connected Windows does not recognize the device and therefore will not install the driver. I have put the correct [or so I think] driver in a seperate folder and told the device installation wizard to focus there, no luck.

Honestly, I am out of suggestions for this poor gal.

My next step is going to be going over there tomorrow and formatting the hard drive and installing a fresh copy of Windows 7.

I don't believe Windows 7 is supported by Apple, which is likely the root of the problem.

She isn's running Windows 7, just Windows XP.

It appears (as craziedcanadian) suggested at an earlier time that the root problem was a corruption of a file in my back up..

I hope I can seek it out and fix it to get all my photos back.. but atleast my phone is alive now

When there are photos in your iPhone's camera roll, your iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer. It is a good idea to import these photos as with any other digital camera and not depend on your iPhone's backup alone for these photos.

Do you know of the reason why windows wont put them in order they were taken? does the iphone not keep any date-stamp?

No I don't. I use iPhoto on my Mac for importing photos from a digital camera including from my iPhone's camera roll, and all photos are placed in the order they were taken based on my iPhoto preference setting for this, which includes additional options for photo placement. The iPhone includes a data stamp for when photos were captured.

oh and I just tried to restore my phone again, away from my old back-up files and it crashed again.. lol.. this is very very odd..

Then your iPhone may have a hardware issue that restoring the firmware will not resolve.

and yes, we are going to try and load up windows 7 later today. he has been using it on his pc without any issues

Good, which doesn't mean there won't be any issues. Windows 7 is still a BETA and is not currently supported by Apple.
