iphone keeps asking for itunes password

Recently, my iphone began asking for itunes password repeatedly. At first this happened only when I was in the app store (though not actually downloading anything). Now it happens at random times when I am using the phone. I have tried restart and soft reset. Anyone have any ideas?

I've been having the same problem for weeks. I think I may have a clue thanks to all your tips. I logged into iTunes and said Sync Apps etc and it all seems to go really smoothly. But the very large app had an update: Audubon Birds - size 337MB, which will take 2 hrs even with DSL!

I guess it started downloading and never finished and maybe that was causing the trouble. So after you Sync Apps, go to iTunes Downloads and see if it's busy downloading a very large app.

I was constantly being asked for my password when I entered the App store on my iTouch.
I went to Settings -> Store -> Sign Out
then just signed in again and am no longer asked for password.

the reason why it kept coming up with the password is because that you may have a application update if you have a look when you sign in on your iphone or iphone 3gs this is what i have and you update it and then job doen password will not come up hope this helps
