Monitor with wrong resolution after 10.5.7 update!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

After just updating to 10.5.7 on my Mac Mini 2,1 (2GHz) my monitor (Belinea o.display 4_24, 24", connected via DVI) is not recognized correctly any more!

It should be running at 1920x1200 native resolution but is now stuck on a bizarre 1920x1080. Additionally, I found a new tab in my monitor prefs offering TV-Screen options like "overscan".

I tried clearing all caches and restarting the machine but nothing would work!

Please help, since I can't work at a screen with buggy resolution!

I've got an original mac with built-in graphics - so why is this happening!?!?!? This is a nightmare....

Cheers, Matt

New question? With this thread running currently at 55,623 views and 405 replies are we getting any attention from Apple? Someone mentioned that they are monitoring this thread. If they are why not give us some input? Why all the secret stuff. This mac Mini may very well be my last mac I ever purchase unless we get some positive input from the top here!

It's no secret that Apple doesn't post replies to Discussions topics. Read the Terms of Use. Aside from hosts & moderators, any Apple employee's posts here are strictly unofficial.

Is this a sign?

Just read the following in MacRumors.com:
http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07/28/os-x-10-5-8-development-wrapping-up/

"OS X 10.5.8 Development Wrapping Up?

MacRumors has received word that Apple seeded OS X Leopard 10.5.8 Build 9L30 to developers last night, including only a single documented change related to an issue with external monitors and waking from sleep mode. There are reportedly no listed outstanding issues in the latest build.

..."

Are there any developers who aren't gagged with an NDA that can confirm this?

Lets hope it's the update to fix our problem. On the current trend Apple are doing all they can to appear to be like Microsoft. In fact, as some have argued, Microsoft often treat their customers better (except those with Vista;-)

And what trend would that be?

BTW, the update mentioned is build 9L30 which only states that the issues fixed with that update were something with external monitors and sleep mode. It doesn't say specifically if it is the update most have been waiting for. However, there have been seeds of build 9L29, 28, 27, etc that we don't have info on yet that may have your fix in there.

Being that the 10.5.8 update will be very likely the last update for Leopard, they are surely just trying to get everything they can in one last update like they did for Tiger 10.4.11.

Trust me, Apple has not abandoned anyone here. Though this is a big issue for many (not all), Apple still cannot post here in an official fashion. That is not what these boards are for. I think some have gotten the misconception that they are actually speaking with Apple reps when in fact I could be your neighbor who just bought his very first Mac myself. Ya never know.
