Monitor with wrong resolution after 10.5.7 update!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

After just updating to 10.5.7 on my Mac Mini 2,1 (2GHz) my monitor (Belinea o.display 4_24, 24", connected via DVI) is not recognized correctly any more!

It should be running at 1920x1200 native resolution but is now stuck on a bizarre 1920x1080. Additionally, I found a new tab in my monitor prefs offering TV-Screen options like "overscan".

I tried clearing all caches and restarting the machine but nothing would work!

Please help, since I can't work at a screen with buggy resolution!

I've got an original mac with built-in graphics - so why is this happening!?!?!? This is a nightmare....

Cheers, Matt

OK, sweet!! Mac Mini running a Hanns-G 28" monitor with a DVI to HDMI connector. Im happy to report that 10.5.8 fixed it for me instantly. I'm now able to enjoy my monitor @ 1920X1200 for the first time since 10.5.7. Thanks Apple. But no thanks to Apple for leaving me in the dark all this time. I filed 2 bug reports and during this whole endeavor never heard one word of encouragement or hope for an upcoming fix. Apple your too uppity for me I'm afraid. I do like the _ out of this thing though!!

I posted on this forum in it's infancy about an issue I had with my MacBook and my 39LG5000 1080p TV. I'm using Mini-DVI->DVI->HDMI and 10.5.7 removed the option to run my TV at full HD resolution (1280x1080).

I've not yet tried to install 10.5.8 but would be interested to hear if anyone else had any success in driving HD TVs at 1080p after experiencing the problem in 10.5.7 and upgrading to 10.5.8.

I will install 10.5.8 as soon possible, as it can't break things more than they're broken at the moment from a display perspective.

CORRECTION: 10.5.8 DID fix the issue for me! I switched to another than my native resolution on my HDMI-connected display, then I uninstalled all custom SRX resolutions, killed SRX and deleted all installed overrides within "/System/Libraray/Display/Overrides/". After rebooting and rechecking that there had been no overrides reinstalled somehow in between, I opened the monitor preferences and there it was - 1920x1200. The display is still falsely recognized as a TV set and I still need overscan to be activated to get full screen gfx but it works.

Yet I can not say "well done", since I did not receive any ressourceful information from Apple throughout my countless calls, emails and support requests.

I will wait for some more positive feedback before I will mark this topic "solved"...

Fixed for me too!

I have a Mac Mini (first gen Intel) with a Westinghouse LCD monitor connected via HDMI (1920x1200).

The 10.5.7 update only gave me 1920x1080, so I restored from a backup and waited for 10.5.8.

10.5.8 seems to work fine (full 1920x1200 resolution). I did notice that during a reboot (while it's transitioning from white screen->light blue screen->my desktop), it'll temporarily show a grey 'bar' along either the top or bottom of the screen (as if it's in 1920x1080 resolution), but it corrects itself by the time it shows the full desktop.

I'm glad Apple finally addressed this problem! I'm not happy with Apple's failure to acknowledge the problem until now...

1360 x 768 also works!

I have a previous gen MacMini connected to a Sony Bravia KDL32P3000 via HDMI. I guess I had the same problem everyone else had after 10.5.7, I ended up downgrading to 10.5.6 after switchresx pulled a real number on me. Now, however, after 10.5.8, everything is exactly as it should be.

Now Apple, why did it have to take this long to come up with that fix, hmm???

On my MBPro I had
- Wide screen 24" LG L246WH 1920x1200
- Bluetooth mouse MX1000
- Airport connection

with 10.5.7, I lost all those devices, results :
- screen in 1920 x 1080
- bluetooth mouse strange behavior (disconnected after a few minutes)
- airport connection lost

plus, the same day... one ******* stuck pixel on my macbook pro screen. Fine day to boycott Apple products/upgrade politic/update choices, etc.
Besides that, I got my files on network but I did not have Time Machine with 10.5.6 system backed up.
Very black day.

I am "testing" 10.5.8 since few hours and it seems to be fine :
My DVI to HDMI LG screen run with his native resolution selected by default 1920 x 1200
My mouse still run after some hours, not disconnected
And I have not test the wifi yet but I hope it will be fine.

so, to answer this topic and give piece of information for LG owner :
resolution problem solved for me with 10.5.8 update -> back to native 1920 x 1200 with dvi to hdmi cable.

Monitor with wrong resolution after 10.5.7 update!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!
