remove "finder icon" from Dock ?

remove "finder icon" from Dock ?

I have no purpose for the Finder Icon, and would like to remove it from my dock. Is there a sprogram or script that will allow me to do this?

Macbook 2.2ghz (santa rosa), Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Sorry, but unless you've got Path Finder, that's a no-can-do.

Is there a specific reason you wish to remove it?

Yes - i only like to see open applications in the dock and find it distracting to see the finder's icon.

FYI - the finder is open all the time.

Suggestion, do not muck around with system resources. People that do cause themselves trouble.

The Finder IS an open application. Blue dot beneath it.

How would one remove it using PathFinder? I've been looking for an option to remove/disable Finder in PathFinder, but I'm not having any luck.
