10.5.7 Macbook sleeps once, freezes second time

Deleting those prefs did the trick for me too. Sleep function on my MBP is back to normal.

had the second sleep issue and tried everything, called applecare for about three hours yesterday with no success and was just about to reinstall when i read your post. awesome!

I just downgraded to 10.5.6. I had ENOUGH! It's been acting funny ever since I upgraded. Usually I never have any issues on updates, but this is the worst! Are they getting sloppy???

So, here's a new question for you! My Ethernet has been active since the start!

In fact, all networks have been active. I just got done deleting the .plist files, so I'll restart and see if everything seems to be in working order. Either way, it appears you have found a little workaround for the time being! Thank you very much.

Now, Apple. Get a hold of yourselves and fix this mess!

I appreciate the folks who have done a lot of work and think they may have a workaround, which in the end may or may not work for everyone. And I know a lot of you like to tinker.

But really, is it worth it? I like to have the latest system too since some stuff gets fixed, but it seems that this is really a minor upgrade and most people have not noticed a **** thing different. And the next OS is coming out relatively soon.

So ask yourself if it is really worth the effort especially if you have a clone of 10.5.6 you can go back to. If not, it certainly may be worth trying these things to avoid an archive and install of 10.5.6.

I wouldn't expect Snow Leopard to come out until late summer or autumn. WE don't yet know what the hardware requirements for Snow Leopard are going to be; there may be many of us who will not be able to update.

Finally, there are some bug fixes in 10.5.7 that may be important to some of us. I know of some that turn out to be important to me.

How much reconfiguration did you have to do after removing those preference (plist) files? Did you have to reset all of your Network setting? How about your system's Network Name? What else?

Just weighing in here. I have a new Macbook (just purchased last week)and downloaded the 10.5.7. Same issues as everyone else - freezes on sleep, etc. I also have an active ethernet in my network preferences so an inactive one wasn't the issue. Have frozen a couple times on restarts. Let's hope someone is monitoring this and that a fix will be forthcoming.

I have exactly this problem with my "black Macbook".

When I close the lid the apple stays lit and the LED on the front doesn't blink, the machine starts to get warm. When I open the lid the screen stays dark but you can see the faint outline of windows etc if you hold it to the light.

Same problem by me.

Any idea if it's worth it to restore system 10.5.6 through Time Machine ?

I am having the identical problem as everyone else (freezes on 2nd sleep attempt). I have a MacBook Pro, and upgraded to 10.5.7 yesterday.

I tried the fix that has been talked about (going into Network Preferences and making Ethernet "active"). The problem for me is, my ethernet already was active.

What now? Any ideas?
