DDR2 PC2 4200 vs DDR2 PC2 5300 17' iMac G5 (iSight)

Looking at augmenting the RAM when the new Mac arrives, I note that Crucial offer two 1 GB chips (UK store) viz above. The PC2 5300 is/can be faster -5.3 GB/sec vs 4.2 GB/sec. It is slightly dearer.

Will this be quicker in the iMac, or is it just theoretical? Whilst I'm not a speed freek 25% faster, seems a lot for a couple of quid. Or am I becoming a Geek?

Will make no odds. If you buy the 5300 RAM it will only work at the max speed your iMac supports.

Get whichever is cheaper.

Won't make a difference in your system. PC2-5300 may be designed for a 333 MHz interface, but your machine will be running it at 266 MHz. My guess is that the CAS latency and other timings will be modified for the 266 MHz clock. It will more than likely operate at equivalent PC2-4200 timings.
