Buffalo external USB drive (model HD-HB300 U2)

Hi,

Wonder if someone can help... I have the above drive which works just fine under Wind ** but doesn't show up on the desktop on my MacBook Pro (running 10.5.7).

Tried USB Probe and got the following:-
27.398 [1] [0x4522300] The IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device.
81.176 [1] AppleUSBEHCI[0x4535800]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0x26, timing out! (Addr: 0, EP: 0)
81.207 [1] [0x457c800] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 2 of hub @ location: 0x26000000)
87.177 [1] AppleUSBEHCI[0x4535800]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0x26, timing out! (Addr: 0, EP: 0)

Tried both USB ports, switching the drive on and off, rebooting the Mac, etc. nothing seems to work.

Thanks in advance,
Phil

Unfortunately i didn't notice anything in the system log. I am a bit of a mac newb so might have missed it.

I did however contact Buffalo and they replied stating:

+I'm afraid there are no fixes available for this issue, the HD-HB was never officially Mac supported, although being that the unit was a plug & play device it did work,+

+We have seen Mac users who updated to 10.5.7 hhaving issues,+

+Due to this particular drive being Discontinued it is unlikely that a firmware update would be developed for the unit+

+Apolagies for any inconvenience that this may cause+

+Kind Regards+

So I am a bit ****** off and will not be purchasing buffalo in the future, however I am looking at getting a new external enclosure thanks to many people's advice, as I do not want to have to Archive and Install.
