10.5.7 Update Broke Spotlight!

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately I am completely unable to search, anywhere, after an update to 10.5.7 yesterday. Finder searches attempts do nothing, and I've lost the ability to search entire messages in Apple Mail.

I've run Disk Utility to repair permissions, have rebooted, and the issue continues.

MacBookPro5,1, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Oh sorry, yes the Spotlight executable is there. I thought we were trying to use the open command to start Spotlight. I don't use open very much, as you can tell.
Actually, I'm doing the debugging remotely into the server with Terminal only, so I didn't get a window to pop up. I tried it again with Screen Share and did see the window and the executable.

I mentioned I had 10.5.7 Server running on a Mac Pro on my first post. The issue is that I've been debugging this issue remotely and won't have access to the keyboard to force the reboot into Safe Mode until later this week, when I'm at the location of the server.
Spotlight is not a critical service on this system, so it's a lower priority for me.

same problem here with the console log.

i see spotlight.app in the core services folder.

its icon is a folder with a red - on it. clicking it returns "you cant open the application spotlight because it is not supported on this architecture"

this is an intel macbook. pretty sure it was working a month or so ago before the updates.

right clicking "show package contents" shows it complete empty, and i sure did not delete the insides (not like i even knew it was there) - so something bad has happened i would like it back if someone can figure out how thanks >_> maybe as simple as someone else uploading their spotlight.app for us?
