Information from serial number

Is there anywhere you can find information about your mac by entering its serial number? (date of manufacture, oS version it shipped with etc.)

PowerMacs G5 DC 2.3 & G4 DP MDD (FW400) : MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz : iMac 2.16 GHz, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

You can get your model from the Apple support site, and then use that model information at, for example, MacTracker.

Try http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html It should provide info on your machine.

Hi Mick,

You can try Chipmunk to get some preliminary information. Although, I find it's best to correlate that back with the MacTracker database.
