iPhone battery drains while charging and streaming internet radio

I recently starting streaming internet radio at work, while connected to a docking station, an iHome 19P, and a LogicTech Pure Fi Anywhere. After several hours, the phone's battery dies no matter what charging device I use, but it is constantly connected to power. Do the radio apps drain more power than a charging devices (as noted above)provide, or is my battery damaged? Should I not steam internet radio all day?

I have the exact same problem while streaming with Pocket Tunes.

In the car I use a Griffin iTrip and all is well with Pandora. Phone stays fully charged while streaming. When I switch to Pocket Tunes the phone gets hot and the battery drain rather quickly.

I did notice that the charging symbol (lightning bolt over battery indicator) changes to a electric plug as soon as I switch to Pocket Tunes.

Weird and ANNOYING!!!!

I have this same issue while streaming the Dan Patrick Show while at work.. My phone is connected to my computer but will NOT charge while the show is streaming.. The minute I turn off the show it starts charging again with no problem.. I have no clue as to why this happens.. It may have to do with the 3G network simply sucking the life right out of the battery while in use.. I can use the iPod and other functions while charging with no problem..

-I have an iPhone 3GS.
-I stream audio from iphone.wlsam.com.
-Since I am streaming inside mobile safari I can open other apps while the audio is streaming.
-If I open maps with location services enabled I ALWAYS lose a charge no mattter what adapter I'm using.

Can someone else confirm this? (note: I use maps while I'm driving and new map tiles are constantly being loaded.)

Hi! I believe the issue you are facing is due to the iPhone overheating (which it does quite easily, especially if you're downloading data). Apple has a safety mechanism built into the iPhone software which cuts off power when the phone heats up more than it should, in order to protect the battery. I've experienced this problem many times. You can ascertain if this is the case for your phone by cooling the phone down using a fan while it's streaming data. You should notice the iPhone starting to charge like it should.

I hope this helps. (:
