Macbook shutdown message appears after 60-70 seconds if no keyboard input

If I don't press a keyboard key after 60-70 seconds, the message of shutdown appears and after 5 seconds it shutdowns no matter what, except if I put cancel.
Help please!
Also, the sleep mode doesn't work.

Ditto on the problem, just started happening about a week ago. Am I correct to assume that everyone experiencing the misterious 70 second shutdown has fixed the problem by replacing the upper case (keyboard area layout)? If so, then is it a short underneath the power button causing this problem? Any ideas on how to jury rig fix this sucker? Gonna give it a shot this weekend... dont really feel like giving the jokers donw here in Vina del Mar another 2 weeks to sit on thier hands. Will post back with results / if I find info on other sites.
Cheers,
Benji
