Playing iPod touch through remote devices

I have an ipod dock and amp setup in my kitchen (iTube by company called fatman). I have been happily playing my 4th gen 80GB ipod through it and it is a great alternative to having to hump all the cd's everywhere.

I just bought a 32GB touch and it wont play through the dock. A message comes up saying 'this application does not support charging' and no music is played through the sound system, just via the internal Touch speaker.

What is the problem?

The problem is that the dock you have does not meet the specs required for the latest generation iPods. Apple has a strange history when it comes to charging iPods - first it was Firewire only, then Firewire and USB, and now USB only. Your dock belongs to the Firewire and USB generation and it is not forward compatible.

Supposedly there are adaptors availble to make the touch compatible but while you are looking for that, you should contact Fatman and see if they have an updated dock available.

Hi, I have an ipod touch 2G and just received my fatman itube carbon 2.

I have the same problem as yours, when on the dock station, the remote control is functioning OK, but the sound only goes out from the ipod and not from the fatman ampli... (it should be compatible from Fatman).

It's quite strange, because before ordering it on internet, I tried it in a store and everything was OK...

Note that I just changed the OS on my IPOD touch to version 3.00, but I doubt it can have an impact.
By the way, does anybody knows why this fatman ampli is not anymore available from applestore?
