Very Low Sound Volume in Windows 7 - Bootcamp on 20" iMac from early 2008

Hi everyone,

I installed Windows 7 RC (build 7100 - 32 Bit version) using bootcamp on my iMac bought in early 2008 (2Gb Ram - 2.67 GHz).

The entire installation went well with no glitch or issues at all and I ran the bootcamp setup in Windows 7 to install the drivers. The problem I'm having is that the sound volume is extremely low in Windows 7. I can barely hear it when I turn the volume up to the max. I don't have volume problems in Leopard - only in Windows 7.

I also tried to install the RealTek Vista driver from my Leopard disk but still the same problem. As anyone run into the same problem? Any suggestions

Thanks!
Gruau

I have found the fix.

1. Uninstall the realtek driver, reboot.
2. Take out the OSX disc 1, pop in the disc, copy the realteksetup.exe under D:\Boot Camp\drivers onto ur desktop
3. Extract realteksetup.exe into a folder.
4. Go to device manager, right click on the sound device, and click update driver software.
5. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" and go to the extracted folder
6. Done, reboot, headphone jack shld work as normal.

Jason I made a slight boo boo with the version. It's actually an acer driver called 5612whql_XP_vistaAcer. I don't remember where I got it from but I bet a good google search will send you there. I went to control panel and updated it manually. I selected update driver, allow me to choose which driver, and then Have Disk, and when the browse came up pointed it to the vista 64 folder inside. this worked right away. If you have a problem finding it email me @ xxfstopxx@hotmail.com and I can see if there is a way for me to FTP the file to you.
