Cannot See Windows Hard Drive in OSX

I used boot camp with Windows XP SP 2 and it works but I cannot see the partitioned Windows HD in my OSX Finder or Desktop. Also, it does not appear in the Startup Disk in System Preferences. OSX boots up normally when I turn on my computer but how do you see the Windows HD while in OSX?

Is there any downside to this? I'd be quite happy not to have the Boot Camp partition showing on the desktop. Thanks.

Hi Adrian,

not that I am aware of.

And for avoiding to press the Option-key at the 'right-time' I use rEFIt as a Boot-Menu.

Sorry, I forgot to mention it...but, you may have already known, so I'll just ask: did you use sudo to elevate yourself before running those commands?
