Recording 48Khz digital audio

I'm having trouble transferring audio from DAT at 48kHz to my new Mac Pro. The Apple audio input changes back to 44.1kHz regardless of what I set it to. I've tried three different software options (Amadeus Pro - my usual tool, and also Sound Studio and Audacity)

I used to use my MacBook Pro to do the same task, but I've since sold it. I tried a new Aluminium MacBook as well with the same effect. Is this a bug that's crept in in recent Apple software or hardware, or is it just me?

I checked the digital audio output from my DAT deck (which I'm converting from Coax to Optical) via my Denon AV Amp and also via my Minidisc recorder and they both play it back fine.

Very Frustrating...

Hi,

i've tried to find the apple support document without success. Essentially I had a problem with sample rates and the new MacPro, though in play back rather than recording. Returned one machine and got another. Better, but essentially limited to 44 and 48, possibly 96, definitely not 88. The support document I can't find now said something to the effect that in some MacPro's the sample recording rate was limited. I don't know if it's hardware, hope that it's software and will be fixed. With a new machine you could try contacting apple support, but this is a fairly specialized problem, on the other hand, MacPro users usually have a specialized task, and require a machine that will perform it.
Please post back if you get an answer or a solution,
Good luck,
Ray
