Dude Perfect - How did they do it?

This is bugging me...can't figure out how they did it.

Downloaded the video and went frame by frame. There are some questionable artifacts - but don't know if it's just from the compression.

I know I could mimic it if I had a tripod and static shot. But to do it handheld, I have no clue how to do it. Any ideas?

Well, having played basketball how many times have you thrown a ball from a water tower? Over a roof? From a speeding truck?

No VFX was done on this. All really thrown, most likely attempted 100 times, and succeeded once. And editing to make them all look like they can outdo the Harlem Globetrotters in one-on-one. If they had a truck and a shotgun.

And the biggest evidence for this is that they never repeated the same throw in a single shot. If they had, there would be reason to suspect fx because if they could really do it consistently, these guys would be collecting money making shots from the opposite end of the court at half time on national television instead of youtube.

All in all, boring no matter how they did it.

It doesn't matter Shane.

I've made three quarter shots in a game. Not often but a couple of times. I've also played a fair amount of outside basketball. It's hard to believe that one person can throw a basketball backwards, for example, at the distances show.

A basketball doesn't tract like some of those shots.

I disagree. There is a likelihood that CG was occasionally used in these shots.

Have you played competitively at the college level?
