Import Pages outline to Keynote

Hello,

under MS Office it is possible to import a outline word document to PowerPoint so that you have the action titles for you presentation. I am looking for a way to do the same with Pages and Keynote. Does someone know a trick? Is there mybe an API to program something with AppleScript?

Kind regards
Jochen

Creating text on new slides is within the grasp of Applescript. The API as it were, is the Applescript dictionary an Application makes available to Applescript which has System wide access to Applications (with differing levels of control depending on the Published Dictionary). Applescript can also invoke Menu commands by using short-cut keystrokes and sending them as Apple-Events to the application.

Suggest you follow up on the Applescript Discussions forum where you'll get considerable support for Applescript but little for Keynote specifics as there isn't much of a dictionary and no Document Object Model what so ever. I have seen scripts written that can achieve what you want, in one case copying text from one application enhancing it in Illustrator, then pasting it into keynote.

Applescript is a high level scripting language with a subtle grammar and syntax so a fair amount of learning is required to get even simple things happening compared to Javascript IMO. It's powerful and cross-application though.
