Trackpad scrolls WAY too fast!

Is there any way I can slow down the speed of which I scroll through pages (on any application) with my trackpad?

I found that, along with going to Internet Options and disabling "smooth scrolling" in combination really improved things dramatically with FireFox 3.x and IE 8 with an MBP 17" and Vista/SP2.

It makes things usable except for one annoying bug for which there is usually a workaround: If in the browser the webpage is wider than the browser window size and a horizontal scrollbar is present, there is no stability in the horizontal direction while doing vertical scrolling by dragging two fingers on the trackpad, so the page is right and left and just makes for a miserable scrolling experience.

It's tough to know sometimes how problems that major make it out the door sometimes, unless there is some configuration trick I'm not aware of yet to resolve that issue. My workaround is to just try to have the browser window wide enough, but of course that wastes precious real estate too often.
