Disabling system animations

I know this is pretty backwards for a lot of you, but I would really like to disable most system animations, specifically for spaces. I don't see any options for doing so. What I would like to happen is to switch from one space to another without it sliding; I'm just instantly in the new space, old apps out, new ones in.

Some other things I could stand to get rid of are the minimizing thing and jumping icons in the dock. Those arent a particularly big deal though. The spaces animation is what drives me crazy, and it tends to be a little choppy anyway.

I'm assuming if this is possible, I'll need to have an adventure in the terminal, that's fine just so I get good instructions for what to do.
