iphoto and panasonic lumix dmc-fz28 raw (.rw2) files support

It appears that iphoto or max osx does not currently support the panasonic lumix dmc-fz28's raw format (.rw2). Is this true? If so, does anyone know when support will be available? If it is supported today, how do you make it work?

macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.7), iphoto/dmc-fz28

I´ve sent tons of mails to Apple regarding this matter. I have a Panasonci LX-3, using the same raw format. Send them a mail too. The more the better. I´m thinking about mailing Panasonic about this issue to see if they have had any contact with Apple regarding this problem. For now im using other applications to convert the images for use in iPhoto. I hade the same problem with Photoshop but Adobe came out with a patch to fix the problem. Adobe Lightroom works fine with RW2 files, so does alot of other programs with varied result. Ive tried lots of them and they all seem to differ in brightness between apps. So far lightroom is the best. Aperture wont work since it´s the same as iPhoto.

Since even the most recent updates to iPhoto do not contain DMC-FZ28 importers for RAW, I use the free and EXCELLENT +RAW Photo Processor+ ( http://www.raw-photo-processor.com ).

For a donation (I gave $10) it will add the feature to open the converted image into the program of your choice. Of course I use iPhoto, which it automatically launches and then imports the image to it's database. Since it also has both batch capability and the ability to pick the image next to the last RAW image in the directory of your previous photo, it's great for importing large numbers of RAW images into iPhoto.

And the control it gives over your import is incredible, certainly on par with Adobe RAW.

I actually found the settings I like best and saved them as a profile for my camera (it works automatically for all Lumix cameras, but you can tweak them quite finely).

Another nice thing about this little app is it is both multicore and multiprocessor savvy. Since it allows you to pick apps to open the imported images in, there's no limit to the the programs you can chose to add to your drop-down list.

It solved the problem for me!

I also have this "rw2" problem with my panasonic G1. But I dont understand how you can import RAW images into iPhoto after having used RPP, because iPhoto does not import rw2-files!
Does RPP change the the rw2-files to some raw format, which iPhoto understands?

It essentially does the same thing Adobe RAW does for PS, it imports it into iPhoto, with quite a few choices:

8 different types of TIFF in 8- 16- and 32-bit for different color spaces.
9 different compression levels of JPEG in different color spaces.
