Text Edit Question

I'm having a problem underlining words or sentences.
How do I underline just one word or two or as many as I want.
When I choose underline, Command>U, everything gets underlined.
I'm using Rich Text.
Thanks.

Are you absolutely SURE the file is not plain text? If you are, then in RTF format you just select the part you want underlined and either go to the Format menu, Font, select Underline, or with the text selected hit Command-U. I suggest you go to the Format menu, because then you can see if the text is, in fact, Rich Text. If it isn't, the third item down will say "Make Rich Text"--do that, and then you can underline selected text only.
