Reinstalling driver for Dell 1110 printer

The 10.5.7 update lost the driver for my Dell 1110 monochrome laser printer. I've been very happy with this printer for the past 18 months and am still on my starter toner cartridge, despite the printer telling me a year ago that I needed a new one.

Hi tediousregistration,

It looks like the driver version you were using is quite old and that could potentially be the problem. Using a driver that's coming up on 4 years old is bound to "break" at some point. It's just frustrating when it happens.

I did some digging on the Internet and I found some links to various versions of the driver, perhaps trying a new version might resolve the issue.

Unfortunately with peripheral driver versions, it's up to the manufacturer to ensure compliance with the OS. It's possible, as 10.5.7 is still very new that a newer version might become available which supports functionality in this revision of OS X 10.5

I also am including a link for Gutenprint. Although it doesn't list that model of Samsung as one of the support drivers, I find that open source community is often the best place to go for older (or not as a common) models.

You can also download the OSX driver for Samsung ML-2010 from Samsung download center. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDownMain.do

OSX drivers for Samsung ML-1710 - which is supposedly the equivalent to Dell 1110 - can be found at Samsung's Australia site, http://www.samsung.com/au/support/download

I also had the same problem after the 10.5.7 update - my Dell 1110 laser printer driver had been uninstalled. I previously had been using the Samsung ML-2010 driver with success.

I found that SpliX, a set of CUPS printer drivers for the SPL (Samsung Printer Language) printers works with 10.5.7. Get it here:

Thanks taychas! Works great for my dell 1110. I used the driver labeled "ML-2010" in the driver list not the one labeled "samsung ML-2010" driver for anyone who has this issue too.

Thanks, about the dell 1110, it now works, but my dell 948 printer still doesn't. Do you have any help for this?
