Automate to Sequence (feature in Premiere) also in FCP?

For instance - you lay down a music track and then play it in the timeline pressing the marker button anytime you like (to the beat for instance) and then you can select clips (or in my case - stills) and choose (from the Project menu) "Automate to Sequence" and a window will come up where you can tell the Premiere to automatically splice the clips (in a chosen order - by selection for instance) to your Markers. The end look would be similar to a music video where the picture changes at musical cues.

Can FCP do this?...?

To be honest, I have no idea why a professional editor would find something like that useful.

One thing you could play with, that will give you a timing reference:

Drop your audio onto the Timeline and lock it.
Insert black video (slug) in the V1 track that is the same length as your audio track.
Start playback and with the shift key held down, press V on the beats that you want to match.
This will cut up the slug track and you can replace each edit with actual footage.

Uhm.......thanks? Although I appreciate your assistance and will mark this as "Helpful" - do you think you might be able to come down off your high horse long enough to think there could be a chance for one of the following (and perhaps even both! oh boy!) to be true...1) You are not in charge of what finished editing project is considered "professional(ly) edit(ed)" and what is not. and 2) Just why exactly is it so odd that a professional editor may find him(or her)self in a situation that this is the way to go? at least for this section of the piece? Some kinda helpful yet insulting critic you appear to be.
