I go to join a group and I join but I can not see the chat. What can I do in order to see the chat?

Hi,

So from the iChat File Menu you are selecting Go to Chat and putting in a Room name.

You should see a normal Chat window that will fill in with the names of those Present at the top and then what they are saying at various pints.

In the View Menu is Show Participants which produces a Pop out drawer with the Buddies in it.
In the same menu further down you can choose to Display Pics, Names or both.

What is it that you are seeing ?

Hi,

When I first go to a chatroom and there are people in it already then it tells me their Screen Names or, if I have them in My Buddy list, what I know them as.

In the View Menu of iChat I can further see by choosing "Show Participants" and there are variations you can choose on whether you see Names or Pics or Both.

My own Buddy pic (As I choose to show Pics and Names) does not appear in the Chat window until I send an IM

Other than that your reply leaves me slightly confused.

I used to get what you are telling me. But now it longs me into the chat room the only thing though is that I can not see the chat. People in the room see my screen name but I am not able to post anything in the group, I can not even see what is being said. I get no window at all. Basically I can join a group but I can not see a chat window or anything.

Hi,

go to the Window menu and see if the Chat is listed there.
If so Click on the item in the menu to reveal the Window.
Certain Windows can be Hidden and iChat will remember that the next time the window is used.

You may also have to go to the iChat > Preferences > Messages and deselect the "Remember Open Chats across Launch" which may also be playing a part.
