How to spin or tumble the video clips ?

I have a motion loop on track 1 (the most bottom track). On the tack above it, i have a video clip. I make the clip smaller so that some of the motion loop is visible. I also apply some boundary lines on the 4 rectangular borders.

But I wanted to make this video spin or tumble. How do i do it ? In motion tab, there is only a rotation along the plane parallel the computer screen (say this plane is x-axis). But what i want is for it to spin along y-axis.

I know in Boris 3D, I can tumble text in y-axis and z-axis. But how do I make the video clips do that ?

Thanks

Thanks skalicki.

I have made the video clips smaller so that I can view the background. In addition to just rotating I also want it to move from left to right. So, I intend to keyframe it to move from left to the right after every one second. I tried to keyframe it but the variables in the CENTRE is ALWAYS ZERO even though I drag the clip out from the visible area of the screen. And it always spin at the same centre point !!

Any ideas ?

Thanks

If you intend to keyframe it by dragging in the canvas, you will have to do that in the Motion tab of the viewer. Dragging does not make the values in Basic 3D change. If you wish to keyframe the center position in Basic 3D, you will have to do it by clicking on the crosshairs next to center in the filters window or input numbers manually. If you click the crosshairs, you can then hold down the mouse in the canvas and drag the image around.

And it always spin at the same centre point !!

Sorry, can you explain exactly what you want to happen here instead of spinning around the center point? If you want it to spin around another point in the clip than its center, you can only do that in the motion tab. You set the *Anchor point* on the clip there and then you can use the normal rotation in the motion tab to rotate around that point.

Sorry for not being clear enuf. What I wanted to do is for the clip to move from left to right as it spins.

But what I got is that it spins without moving from left to right.

Thanks

Hi(Bonjour)!

Once the spinning effect is done in filter tab (BAsic 3D filter), open the motion tab and put some keyframes in the center point (look in User manual from page 729- for FCE4.0 version).

Thanks Michel Boissonneault, your suggestion is spot on !!

Yes, so it is a two step process, do the spinning first then do the moving !!

Excellent !

Thanks
