Mail's 'attach' button does not work

Hi,
When I create a new message, I am unable to attach any files if I use the 'attach' button on the mail message. I have to drag the file into the message to attach. If I click on the paper clip icon, the file directory dialogue box appears, I click on a file the box disappears, but nothing gets attached.

Strangely, if I create a message with either 'reply' or 'forward' I am able to click on the paper clip icon and attach a file.

Regards to all

Hi,

This can be associated with trying to attach something before having entered any text. Not being able to attach before composing any text, appears to be related to the selection to place all attachments last in the message -- Edit/Attachments/Always Insert Attachments at End of Message. This is a very good setting to help when sending to those using Outlook and Outlook Express and is new to Leopard and Mail 3.x. But I have found it problematic sometimes, and leave it unselected -- but I have always made sure to do that myself throughout all versions of Mail.

Check your selection for this feature.

Hi Ernie

Hey, thanks. That was quick and yes, I was trying to attach before typing anything. I tried out several ways, even just typing a space is enough, the file gets attached. If I delete everything in the body, even then file gets attached. But nothing happens if I dont type anything in the body.

Yes, I have the selection 'insert at end of message'

best regards and thanks.
