get coordinates in grapher

Hello everone,

I did already post this, but long time ago, and I forgot...

So when I use grapher and use the funktion y=x+4 for example, and I want to get coordinates of the graph, my intuitiv behaviour is to click on it. But no matter where I click, I always see at the bottom of the window "x=,4f y=,4f". Even if I change the equation of the function.

Hi mot

Hmmm, I see in your signature you're using 10.5.2... Have you considered updating to 10.5.6 (or 10.5.7 although it is not recommended by many users here - I personally wouldn't recommend against it, but I have to admit I experienced some issues with the Finder and Mouse/Keyboard behaviour).

Also try repairing disk permissions using /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app

Hello everyone,

with the help of YB24 i found out, that the error lies in the localizable.strings file of the german version. In this file is the line:

"COORDINATES FORMAT_FORMATSTRING" = "%@=%%,%df %@%%,%df";

In this line I changed the "," to a "." in both cases. Now I see the coordinates of any graph in grapher, but with an dot a delimiter instead of the commata which is the correct form in German. So it works, but not yet perfectly.
So my last question on this topic: In the German language it is common to write 4,567 instead of 4.567, as in English. Does anyone know, how to write this special line in the translation file, so that I see the German form?

Best wishes

Hi motmotmot !
It's also decimal points in this place on the French Localizable.strings file ; and coordinates show point and not coma even with Grapher used in French.
I'm afraid you should tolerate it as well as I do with my scientific small calculator TI-81...
There is a good text about international numbers format at BIPM
< <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://www.bipm.org/en/si/si_brochure/chapter5/5-3-2.html > article 5 34 "Formatting numbers, and the decimal marker".
Cordialement, YB24
