Is 3Com Router (3CRWDR101A-75) compatible with Time Capsule in a WDS?

Hi, I am trying to 'extend' the range of my 3Com network wirelessly. Is this possible?

The 3Com will be connected to the telephone socket in the ground floor hall and will be the main router as it has a built-in modem. As it is difficult to get a strong signal on the 2nd floor, I want to put the Time Capsule on the 1st floor so that computers on the 2nd floor get a stronger signal. The Time Capsule will therefore act like a relay.

Is this possible?

You don't mention which 3Com router you have

This is not a definitive list, but if you look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WirelessDistributionSystem it should give you an idea as to whether or not your router supports WDS

Hi Paul,

I have given the model number of the 3Com in the title of the post. It does support WDS. I'm not so sure it is compatible with the Time Capsule. Do they adhere to the same standard?

Unfortunately there is no WDS standard. Therefore it is most likely that the 3Com's WDS is NOT compatible with Apple's WDS.
