Quartz Extreme Issue
Hi,
I am having a Macbook with OS x 10.5.6. Recently the new OS update came and I did a auto update (10.5.7). Suddenly my iMovie, Photo Booth, Front Row , VLC Player & Div X Player Stopped Working.
*Problems / Error Messages:*
iMovie : iMovie requires a graphics card that is compatible with Quartz Extreme. One or more of your graphics cards does not support Quartz Extreme.
Photo Booth : The graphics card installed in this computer does not support Photo Booth.
Front Row : Blank Page
VLC & Divx : Crash
Thanks to Apple Support, I got it resolved in following Steps,
1. Reinstall the OS to 10.5.6 (Don't forget to choose a option of Archive the data to preserve you data and settings)
2. Install the Mac OSX 10.5.7 combo pack instead of doing an auto-update MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.7.dmg - http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1057comboupdate .html
This fixes the problem and you will notice that under
System Profiler --> Graphic / Dispaly --> Color LCD:
Core Image: Hardware Accelerated
Quartz Extreme: Supported
I wasted lot of time in doing rebooting the machines, changing the resolutions and changing the color settings.
Just wanted to help people like me who got same issue.
Thanks & Regards,
