popping when new sound comes through, with Bose companion speakers.

I've used the Bose companion speakers for years with my 17" PowerBook and they were fine. Now, connected to my new 24" iMac they "pop" just before a new sound comes through, i.e. mail message coming in etc. I've connected them to my husband's 24" iMac and same deal. Apple has no idea why, and it's driving me nuts.

I purchased a refurbished 24" iMac in June. About 3 weeks ago I started to get this annoying popping noise from the built in speakers. I have a Music Fidelity Xcan V8 tube headphone amp connected to one of the usb port, when I'm listening to music with my Shure SE530's there is no popping noise. So I'm thinking its an issue with the amplifier stage of the iMac audio card. Which is probably built into the MB?

It is annoying and for the price of the iMac its " very annoying"

I didn't notice this problem when I first got my Unibody MacBook Pro(late 2008), but I had my logic board replaced because my computer would freeze randomly when using the 9600GT graphics card. Also the repair slip said they replaced my speaker!? They must have replaced my logic board though because my MAC address is different. Now that doesn't happen, but I have this pop problem. Just like everyone else it happens right before a sound is played, if no audio has been played for a while, or after playing audio after sleep. I agree it sounds like something with the audio power saver. I really wish I could get this fixed, talked with apple last night they had me reset the SMC, PRAM, then told me to take it into my local apple store. Honestly this computer has spent more time in the shop than at my house! I really wish Apple would fix this... Soon!
