I just downloaded and installed iTunes 8.2. When I first ran the program it went through a quite lengthy process of "updating" my library. When I connected my iPod it proceeded to copy over 600 tracks to it, despite the fact that the tracks were *already present* on the iPod. What in the world was that about and am I goingt o find 2 copies of the tracks on my iPod? (I currently have over 4400 tracks on the device and since there doesn't appear to be a list of what iTunes "updated", I'd really like to know what iTunes did.)
I really don't know what's going on, as I've yet to update to 8.2, but perhaps you can make yourself a smart playlist of songs most recently modified (set the date to something within the past week or so -- go further back if that doesn't yield results). That may allow you to see which files were replaced on your iPod.
I did as you suggested (I told it to include anything modified in the last 2 days) and only about a dozen items were listed -- all things I've recently added. Thanks for the suggestion.
I have a similar problem. I just DL'ed 8.2. It took a while to load just like this previous poster stated (was "updating" the library). It worked fine, I synched it up with my Ipod, and I added more music with no problem.
THEN, I went to add more music an hour later, and it locked up. I cant get iTunes to work anymore. It starts (can see it adjusting the vlume settings on a synch) then Windows instantly gives an Error message saying:
"iTunes has stopped working-- A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Obviously Windows hasnt notified me of anything. So thats why Im here...
