Nokia 5130 not supported?

Hi everybody!! I'm kind of frustrated... I've just bought a Nokia 5130. I know, is kind of cheap, but I didn't realized that is way to cheap not to be able to use it with iSync!!!

I already googled it a lot!! no success
I already installed some 'similar' iSync plugins... neither!!

Please help! if there is a 'similar' phone that works, I'll really appreciate if you tell me!!

Thank you in advance for your reply!

Any iSync Plugin you install must be specifically for the exact phone model you have. Plugins for 'similar' phones won't work at all.

If this is a very new phone, and if it has the ability to sync (not all cheap/low-end phones do), it may just be a case of waiting until Nokia or a third-party developer releases a Plugin for it.

Often, due to different release dates around the world, there can be a delay of some days or weeks before an iSync Plugin is available after the phone is released.

Hi; yes; I speak Spanish 🙂

1. Edit /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/ PlugIns/PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources/MetaClasses.plist

2. Insert the following definition:
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Identification</key>
<dict>
<key>com.apple.cgmi+cgmm</key>
<string>Nokia+Nokia 5130c-2</string>
<key>com.apple.gmi+gmm</key>
<string>Nokia+Nokia 5130c-2</string>
<key>com.apple.usb.vendorid-modelid</key>
<string>0x0421/0x0208</string>
</dict>
<key>InheritsFrom</key>
<array>
<string>family.com.nokia.series40.3rdEd.bus.usb-bt</string>
</array>
<key>Services</key>
<array>
<dict>
<key>ServiceName</key>
<string>com.apple.model</string>
<key>ServiceProperties</key>
<dict>
<key>ModelIcon</key>
<string>NOK6111.tiff</string>
<key>ModelName</key>
<string>6111</string>
</dict>
</dict>
<dict>
<key>ServiceName</key>
<string>com.apple.synchro</string>
<key>ServiceProperties</key>
<dict>
<key>MaxCityLength</key>
<integer>30</integer>
<key>MaxEMailLength</key>
<integer>126</integer>
<key>MaxEventLocationLength</key>
<integer>51</integer>
<key>MaxPhoneNumberLength</key>
<integer>50</integer>
<key>MaxPostalCodeLength</key>
<integer>10</integer>
<key>MaxStateLength</key>
<integer>30</integer>
<key>MaxStreetLength</key>
<integer>126</integer>
<key>MaxURLLength</key>
<integer>126</integer>
<key>needsFullAddressInStreetField</key>
<true/>
</dict>
</dict>
</array>
</dict>
</plist>

3. Open iSync

4. Connect your phone

That's it 🙂

Hi!
Well, you don't just need to copy and paste the XML definition; you'll need to paste it in the correct place along all other phones definitions checking not to break other models configurations.

Also you need to check the specifiy information regarding your phone model; you can extract such information with:
/Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/P lugIns/PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin
Adding the device you can check the specific configurations and see if they match with the xml definition I sent before.

Hope this helps out!

PS
Other option is to check with NovaMedia guys; they are working on a 'not patched' plugin 🙂

Dear Jgonzalez.

Just make some changes to your post, and that make the magic. Just have to put firt <key>com.nokia.5130c-2</key>

And delete de first part about plist.

Just copy the following after the last </dict>
</dict>
</array>
</dict>
Of the previous model.

Now just have problems with Nokia Multimedia Transfer.
And have some problems, with iSync and getting the info from the phone, it just give and error taht says, impossible to get info from phone.

Thanks.

Cheito,
just did what you suggested but could not make it work;
I paired it via bluetooth first and now I can 'see it' in iSync, but i still get the message
"This device is not supported by iSync.

did I do something wrong? If you can send me a 5130 specific metaclasses file, I can test it (this is the only thing I am syncing)

Thanks,
