Memos - Palm data transfer?

Just bought a new iPhone 3G (from Palm Treo 700)

Looking for an iPhone (or 3rd party) application that is able to:
1. transfer 1000's of memos from a dozen different categories from my Palm to my iPhone, &
2. add new memos & categories directly into iPhone.

17" core Duo laptop, Mac OS X (10.5.7), Apple user since 1983

Consider using the following directions I compiled transferring Palm Memos to iPhone. had to employ one new software (Pocketcopy) and purchase a memo app (Notespark). However final result was exactly correct transfer.

A roundabout - but sure way - to export Memos from palm PDA to iPhone using Notespark app as note organizer.

Example – the Palm device is a T|X pda.

1. in order to transfer Memos from Palm to iPhone, I needed to purchase software from PocketCopy (price: ~ $25.00) www.chapura.com/pocketcopy
2. once Pocket copy is installed it is saved on the Palm desktop as an icon (see Pocketcopy instructions)
3. With Pocketcopy installed, in the palm desktop, select Pocketcopy via its icon.
a. Select “Notes” and leave “Copy Private items” checked if you are only transferring Memos
b. NOTE: you can always transfer contacts and calendar over later – this is an easier process than for Memos
4. Open MS Outlook mail and under the Notes folder you should find the transferred Memos
5. With Outlook open and only the Notes folder selected (from list in left column of Outlook)
a. Choose from menu, “File/Export/Export to a file”
b. Choose “comma separated values (windows)”
c. Select folder, e.g., “Notes”
d. Export to a file and open “MAP CUSTOM FIELDS” in order to choose what data in the memos will be exported to Notespark (read instructions carefully as info can be added or removed in this step)
6. “Notespark” can be purchased via the iTunes store (price: $4.99)
7. With Notespark uploaded onto the iPhone via iTunes (did you sync?)
a. Open the Notespark app on your PC or MAC
b. Choose Import
c. Choose File to import and select browse (the file saved from #5 above should be accepted by Notespark)
d. Leave (Advanced) as default of “Auto-detect…”
8. Next step:
a. If only transferring Memos with categories and notes, then only need to choose “note content” for Note Body and “categories” for Tags, and leave Title and date as “None”
9. Now all notes should be imported to the Notespark server (web site)
10. NOTE: No need to attach iPhone (via PC or MAC) to iTunes in order to complete final transfer (as long as iPhone can access the web).
11. Open Notespark on the iPhone, and touch the sync icon on bottom of screen. All notes should be transferred including the Categories as Tags!
12. Final thought – if you do not need to sync the Notes app that came with the iPhone, then under the Info tab in iTunes de-select “Notes”.

SplashNotes: The perfect substitute for Treo Memos!
I gave up after a year of monthly Google searches. Seems no one has found the iPhone app that lovers of Treo Memos have been asking for in posts. So I settled in with iPhone's Notes app since it came with the phone.

Recently, I found SplashNotes (Outliner) and gave it a try. Threw out all the fancy templates (Outline list) that it came with, made my own simple list (50+ old Treo Memos). It backed up wirelessly to the desktop software without a hitch. Wish I had found this sooner and never moved my Memos to iPhone Notes. Migration would be easier from Treo Memos (desktop) straight to SplashNotes (desktop). I never used categories in Treo Memos, just plain list making and for my purposes, SplashNotes is great. $2.99 iApp + $9.99 desktop app (www.splashdata.com/splashnotes/index.htm) is some of the best money I've ever spent.

Between http://www.splashdata.com/splashnotes/support/iphone.htm and http://bit.ly/5SBYRL + Susan saying - "Migration would be easier from Treo Memos (desktop) straight to SplashNotes (desktop)."

Q: Can SplashNotes on Desktop Import Palm Desktop Notes/Memos? How straightforward is that process? I'd like Details!

Q: If such Import is possible, can SplashNotes Data be Exported, so that if I find a better Pair of Desktop + iPhone Apps, I can migrate to that? My Possible Candidates as of now are: Chronos - NoteLife for iPhone http://www.chronosnet.com/Products/notelife.html and or iData3 this:%20 http://www.idata3.com Does anyone have a Feedback on those 2 Apps?

Hello,

I faced the same problem with the ToDo situation. I bought ToDo - one of the few programs that I decided to actually purchase. I then downloaded a link to Toodle-Do. It's free on the net. Toodle-Do provides a free sync routine for Outlook's Task list. You can set it to sync as frequently as you like.

ToDo syncs with Toodle-Do. I have it set to sync every time I start it. As a result my iPhone is always within 10 minutes of being up-to-date from my desktop (I have it set to update every 10 minutes on the desktop). It works just great and is seamless.

Just a by-the-way I have over 600 ToDos currently in my list - recurring and non-recurring. I use it a LOT.

Hope this helps!
