iPhoto '09 8.0.3 Update - iPhoto painfully slow now

After installing the iPhoto 8.0.3 yesterday, iPhoto has become painfully slow on my machine. Switching between Views (eg. from Events to Faces) makes the CPU usage spike up and I get the spinning beachball for about a minute or two before I can continue working - the worst offenders are Faces and Places, but it's basically become a pain to work with.

This was not a problem until I installed the update yesterday and I tried rebuilding my library to no avail.

Anyone have any tips?

Does anyone else encounter this problem?

Does it have to do when also upgrading to OS 10.6.1? I'm also having that same symptom with iPhoto 7.x

I did verify that it must be an incompatibility issue with OS 10.6.x with iPhoto v7.x cuz having that issue with my MacBook Pro, I tested my MacBook Black with OS 10.5.x & iPhoto was normal then right after upgrading to OS 10.6.x, iPhoto seem to hang when clicking on a picture.

One thing I notice though is that both laptops are NOT really in a frozen state, if you leave iPhoto & wait for about 10-20 min. it recovers & works just fine after that.

Can some of you verify that & just wait a little longer when iPhoto seems to be loading or in a frozen state.
