Question

Midi files won't playback organ sounds

I've imported a number of midi files and none will playback any of the organ sounds. The organ track will play with any other instrument and the organ will play if I record it. It's just on midi file tracks. Any thoughts?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

For reasons that nobody understands, other than most software instruments organ sounds respond only to signals on midi channels 1 thru 3. Try to change your midi files accordingly!

And so to the next big question... is there anyway to change midi channels within Garageband, or using any other software on the mac?

If you didn't create the midi file yourself, you'd have to use a midi editor to change that. Here's a simple one:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/midikit.html

You can change midi channels with that note by note, I haven't found a way to batch process a whole file. Or look for a software called EasyBeat.
