I have a pretty new 17" Mac Book Pro with a wireless Mighty Mouse. The mouse is consistently losing the connection with the computer and I have to go to the Bluetooth menu to re-establish the connection. Is this a known issue or does this computer or Mighty Mouse have a defect?
Under Leopard I had messages every other day or so that my connection was lost between my Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 and my Imac. So far I have not had this message under Snow Leopard (10.61)
P.S.
The Bluetooth problem that I seem to be facing is excessive mouse movements when the processor is working on other tasks. Before logging into this forum, I was reading emails when I moved the mouse to click on the delete option. The mouse started moving and then just took off in the same direction overshooting the delete icon.
Count me in as having the same issue. Wake up the machine and both the mouse and keyboard do not work. System preferences shows them as paired and connected. I have to restart to get them functional. Happens at different frequencies - getting real old!!

Yesterday, in desperation, I went to the Apple store and bought a new Mighty Mouse, just to see if my mouse disconnect problem was mouse related. This morning my mouse was disconnected.
I am beginning to think that we should use the new screen capture function in Quicktime X and post a video on youtube showing the problem. That way we can give Apple Care a link where they can actually see the lost connection in action!
Is anyone else using a third party driver for the mouse? I have purchased Steermouse because otherwise the mouse was just impossibly slow to use with just the Mac driver.
Maybe Apple needs to release a better driver for the BT mouse and KB?
I've been using Steermouse for three years and love it. However, I was one of those with the connection problem. Mine pretty much went away, though, with 10.5.8 and now with 10.6 I've only had one instance of it. At least not four times a day like was happening.
I've been having the same mighty mouse issue losing connection but seem to have hopefully resolved mine with a minor fix to the mighty mouse itself. It has been working without any issues for the last two hours.
I noticed when moving the mighty mouse around and having to lift it then laying it down on the counter the mighty mouse would lose it's connection almost all the time, like it was turning off then back on.
So I opened up the battery compartment and looked at the on/off switch. While looking at the under side of the battery cover there is a strip of metal that the on/off switch pushes on the mighty mouse to let it know to turn off or on. I simply took a butter knife and pried the metal up and out where its already folded over. I didn't have to pry the metal much and did not break anything off. This may have allowed the on position of the on/off switch to push the on/off button more accurately.
I hope this makes sense and excuse any misspelling and grammar. I feel this worked for me since before the mighty mouse would not stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time.
Thank you so much!!! I've been "suffering" from the disconnections, my mouse almost disconnect every few minutes!!! I think the problem is fixed now! thank you so much 😉
I've been having the same problem with my mighty mouse. Your clearly described, simple, and elegant solution did the trick. I haven't had a disconnection in hours. Thanks for posting this! You saved me from a lot of needless aggravation.
