Removing Color from messages

The only other built-in method for changing the color of the titles of some messages that I know of, besides a rule you might have built, is the Advanced Junk Mail Filter, but I think the default color for it is brown.

If that's not it, then we need some other input. Sorry, if that's not it then you'll probably want to repost your question with a title that says you want to remove colors from some message titles. That may get some attention with fewer questions about which colors you are talking about.

You will need to make a rule. Set the condition to every message, and the action to set foreground color to black (you will need to select other, then pick black from the palette). Turn off all rules except this one. Exit from the rules, without applying, then select the messages you need to change and use menu Message/Apply Rules. Go back to the rules preferences and delete or deactivate the rule.

It sounds like related emails in a thread are getting colored.

Mail/Preferences/Viewing/Message Threading: Highlight Related Messages using Color

If that box is checked, uncheck it.

Are you talking about the titles of the messages, or text inside the message?
