Color fades when scrolling in Safari 4

Since upgrading yesterday from Safari 4 beta to Safari 4 proper (and from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7), a strange things happen: when I scroll up or down in Safari, the color fades. It returns if I stop and click outside the app (i.e. on the desktop background), then recurs if I again scroll in Safari. Didn't happen before the upgrade, and it's quite annoying. Any suggestions?

I was having this problem just now - Dual screens on MBP with fast user switching enabled, but only logged in to computer with the one account.

I have fixed this by moving the safari screen on to my second monitor and attempting to scroll there. The colours didn't change on the external monitor. I have moved my safari screen back to the primary monitor and it's behaving fine now.

I am suspecting a coloursync issue. Next time someone is seeing this can you try switching coloursync (colorsync?) profile to a new one and then back again...

I too am experiencing the same problem with my newly bought 15 inch macbook pro.
I have a Dell 2407 monitor connected to my mbp and whenever I use the Fast User Switch feature,
I can see the colors going crazy as I scroll.

I was tweaking with the display color profile and if I choose the profile that came with the macbook pre installed and not the one I installed, the problem's gone. I've tested this a couple of times and the problem really seems to go away.

Can anyone else test this to see if this really works?

It does look like the issue has something to do with colour profiles associated with your display - moving the Safari window from one display to another would cause the OS to have to change how it is shown using the colour profile for the other display. However, I certainly would not disable my current colour profile for my MacBook Pro's display simply because I need it to be correctly calibrated.

I got the solution (for calibrated screens, tested with Safari 4.0.2)!!!

1) Open Safari in a site that scrolls
2) Use fast user switch
3) Come back to your session
4) Scroll in Safari, the nasty bug is here
5) Now open System Preferences -> Displays -> Color
6) Switch the color profile to the default one (not calibrated)
7) Use fast user switch
8) Come back to your session
9) Scroll in Safari, the nasty bug is over
10) Open System Preferences -> Displays -> Color
11) Switch back the color profile to the one you was using
12) Use fast user switch
13) Come back to your session
14) Scroll in Safari, the nasty is not back!

I would like to add that in my case the window's frame is also affected. The change isn't nearly as dramatic but when I look closely I can see that the colors have faded slightly in the window's close, minimize and zoom buttons.

What ever the problem is, it's not in the page rendering.

I'm curious... How many of us have safari's debug menu enabled? (I don't mean the develop menu)
