RICOH Aficio 1515MF and Leopard

I have a RICOH Aficio 1515MF that refuses to play nicely with our two macbooks running Leopard. It mostly prints garbled whatnot and shoots out blank pages. Is there a workaround for the printer not supporting Postscript?

Strange they have postscript drivers on their website, yet they don't have postscript support. That sounds like the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. IPP support comes from Guten-print commands. When you add the printer from the Printer Setup utility hold the Option key. Then additional printers should appear in the bottom, and you can change the connection protocol. You may find a guide that helps on my FAQ*:

Great Thread.

I have the same problem as Jason with my Ricoh 1515 and can't print from my MB pro OS 10.5.7. I tried to follow the same steps but Mr. Broughton's solution did not work for me. What am I doing wrong?

1) I downloaded: GPL Ghostscript.mpkg, Foomatic-RIP.pkg,pxlmono.pkg
2) I Dragged each dnld to my application folder and ran each from there.
3) Then I added the printer and tried to print. Many blank pages printed and a few with code.

Please help. I would love to be able to call someone to walk me thru this step by step.

All the best,

Stephen

I have similar problems with a different printer. The Aficio 3025 is a copier and printer here at my work. I just have no clue what to do. Will that linux website do the same thing for me? If so, could someone give me some basic steps? I am getting pretty upset about it. I'd much rather use my Macbook Pro for work than the stupid desktop PC that is getting slower each day.

I added the printer using IPP, and it printed out the couple pages of codes and blank pages. Should I still be adding it as IPP, or should I stick with LPD? It is a wireless copier/printer if that makes a difference.

If it is going to work, you are going to need another driver for it. If it is black and white, there should be a Gutenprint PCL driver that will work. If it is color, you may need a driver from that Linux site or somewhere else.

Once you have it, click on Options & Supplies, and then on the Driver tab and you should be able to change the driver there.

Download and install Ghostscript, Foomatic-RIP, and the pxlmono package.

After you install the packages mentioned above, you should be able to use the Print & Fax preference pane and just change the driver from Generic PostScript to the Ricoh Aficio 3025. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
