iweb help!

I have made a second site from a second computer now my second site connects to my first. At the bottom of the iweb page it says my other website and I can't figure out how to change it. Basically my problem is that I made a 1st website and gave it a go daddy domain name. It has worked great. Now I made a 2nd site from another computer and gave it a go daddy domain name but it connects me to the 1st website!!! Now when i type in the first wed address it connects me to the second and when i type in the 2nd web address it goes to a a google page that has not been set up. I've tried apple support and nobody understands me! Can someone please help me????? These are both business websites and so business is down while these are not working.

THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!

Have you tried mounting the iDisk for the brittanyfenton account, go to the iDisk/Web/Sites folder and delete the site folder you don't want and the index.html file in the Sites folder. Then make a minor change to the correct site and republish. That will replace the index.html file that's in the Web/Sites folder and replace it with one that points to the correct (and only site).

One more bit of information that might help in helping me...

in GoDaddy I forwarded dowdleflowers domain name to http://web.me.com/brittanyfenton/dowdleflowers

And masked it to www.dowdleflowers.com

For pear-peonies domain name I wasn't sure if I did this right but I forwarded it to http://web.me.com/pearpeonies/pear-peonies

And masked to www.pear-peonies.com

was the 2nd one right or should it be http://web.me.com/pearpeonies/pear&peonies

I was told to put in the site name at the end and I don't know if it's the domain site name (pear-peonies) or the iweb name that I named the site when i started creating it (pear & Peonies)

Sorry this is all such a pain, I am very grateful for all the responses and help!

I'm at a loss. If you forwarded the domain name to http://web.me.com/yourMMe_Account_Name/Site_Name/first_pagename.html you should get the site you intend to.

If the account name is brittanyfenton and the site name is dowdleflowers this should get us to the site: http://web.me.com/brittanyfenton/dowdleflowers/

which it doesn't.

Note: I like to point the URL to the first page of the site so there's not confusion with the index.html file that is in the root level of the Web/Sites folder. Also don't name the first page of the site "index".

No, pear-peonies = personal domain name

was the 2nd one right or should it be http://web.me.com/pearpeonies/pear&peonies

Yes, pear&Peonie = Site name
(you may want to change this first in iWeb : "&" translates terrible in many browsers)

Attention : sometimes you say this site name = pear&Peonie and sometimes pear&peonie, the first Peonie with capital P and the second peonie with small p.
On MobileMe, the URL is capital sensitive ! What is the correct spelling ?

But non of these links seem to work ? Do you have them on-line ?

On computer 1
iWeb website : dowdleflowers
MobileMe account : brittanyfenton
Personal Domain name : www.dowdleflowers.com

On computer 2
iWeb website : pear&Peonie
MobileMe account : pearpeonies
Personal Domain name : www.pear-peonies.com

As you have 2 MobileMe accounts and 2 personal domain names the recommended set up is :

personal domain name 1 => C_NAME => MobileMe account 1
www.dowdleflowers.com => web.me.com/brittanyfenton

personal domain name 2 => C_NAME => MobileMe account 2
www.pear-peonies.com => web.me.com/pearpeonies

Question : Do you intentionally use masking you domain name ? Visitors will not be able to bookmark a specific webpage !
If you really want this, forget this question.
If not, use C-NAME

Kind regards,
Leo

Hello brittanylee,

I've tried to visit your sites today.

http://web.me.com/pearpeonies/Pear%26Peonies/Welcome.html = OK

When I try with the personal domain name : http://www.pear-peonies.com, I get a 404 (file not found)

However, when I try the personal domain name for the dowdleflowers website, it redirects to Pear %26Peonies ( http://www.dowdleflowers.com/Pear%26_Peonies/PhotoGallery.html

It seems that you have redirected your personal domain name "www.dowdleflowers.com" to your pearpeonies MobileMe account that publishes your "Pear&Peonies" website.

1. Start by going to your GoDaddy personal domain name "www.dowdleflowers.com" forwarding page, undo forwarding to pearpeonies.

2. Go to your pearpeonies MobileMe account and remove "www.dowdleflowers.com" as the personal domain name.

3. Go to your GoDaddy personal domain name "www.pear-peonies.com" forwarding page, set forwarding to web.me.com/pearpeonies.

4. Go to your pearpeonies MobileMe account and set "www.pear-peonies.com" as the personal domain name.

Do the same for the other personal domain name and MobileMe account.

That (should) work.

Please, feel free to say If my posts are too technical and you want more text explanations.

Kind regards,

Leo

Ok sorry I haven't been here for a while, the stress of a new baby and this stupid site just about put me over the edge! I did what you told me but so far no changes 😟 Really I don't need the pear & peonies site to work, I'm just going to do a blog. The important one is the dowdleflowers.com site. Is there a way to just remove the pear & peonies site that I created altogether? As long as the dowdleflowers site works, that's all I need. Thanks!

Hello brittanylee,

A baby ! Congratulations !
To my knowledge, your baby is the first announced on this forum 🙂

About your domains :

To remove your Personal Domain Name "prear&peonies" :
_ goto the website that manages this personal domain name and delete the URL (or C-NAME) forwarding.
_ log-in to your MobileMe account "pearpeonies" via the web interface, and remove the link to your "prear&peonies" personal domain name.

On the computer that has iWeb with "dowdleflowers" only, do a Publish all. That should remove any "pearpeonies" pages.

Kind regards,
Leo

Thank you, he's a pretty fun baby! Ok I did what you told me, does it take affect immediately or does it take a while. So far dowdleflowers.com is still pointing to pear & peonies. I deleted the CNAME on go daddy and I removed the domain name from mobile me. Then I went to the other computer and clicked publish at the bottom of the screen and when I clicked visit site it still went to pear & Peonies.

Hello Brittany,

Did you clear the Safari cache ? Is that it ? if not :

Did you verify that your iWeb website : dowdleflowers

Is Logged-in to MobileMe account = brittanyfenton
The Personal Domain name www.dowdleflowers.com is set in iWeb "Set up personal domain"
And that www.dowdleflowers.com is redirecting to brittanyfenton with CNAME

Kind regards and say hello to your son.

Leo
