Aiport Extreme, Sony PSP Remote Play via Internet and Telnet

I have an Airport Extreme 802.11n and am happily using it.

The only thing I am having a problem with is "Remote Play via Internet" with a Sony PSP. The idea is that I can use the PSP to turn on and explore my PS3 wherever I can access a wireless network. I can connect my PSP via Remote Play within my home network without issue, but I have not been able to outside.

I have explored the web and these forums for an answer and think this is presently a unique topic. I have tried connecting my PS3 via ethernet cable to my Airport Extreme, I have tried all sorts of network settings and I have tried opening different ports, all to no avail. Presently, my PS3 has a dedicated internal IP address and the Remote Play via Internet port (9293) are open on both TCP and UDP.

After a fruitless week of trying, I was given a set of instructions that is meant to help configure a router for PSP Remote Play via Internet and it involves Telnet. Unfortunately, I cannot connect to the router with telnet (I have tried a number of ports, the default being 23). So I didn't get past stage one of the instructions.

If anyone can help me here, I would be most grateful.

All firmware up to date on both PSP (5.51) and PS3 (2.80).

I followed the instructions on the playstation network.

Additionally, I setup port mapping for UDP and TCP on port 9293 on my AEBS, and used a static address outside of the DHCP range for the PS3.

I have the same problem since day one: My PS3 is still waking up by itself, and reseting the "Enable Remote Start via the Internet" checkbox.

However, it works when the "Remote Start" is first enabled. I can log on from neighbor's wireless network, and start Remote Play via Internet from my PSP. So I know the "Remote Play via Internet" stuff is working. It's just ... my Apple router (Airport Extreme Basestation) it keeps waking up my PS3, and then kills Remote Play via Internet.

There is a warning on this phantom restart on SONY's web site here.

Quote:
Depending on the type of router, the PS3™ system may be started unintentionally if remote start is enabled. If a remote play connection is not established within a certain amount of time after the PS3™ system is started, the system will turn off automatically. To prevent this from happening, remote start via the Internet may be disabled automatically.

Most people believe the offending IP packets are coming from the ARP broadcast from the router.
