On a side note: There is an AT&T store down the street. I just drove at 7:04 am by to see if there was a buzz over there. Store hasn't opened yet, no one waiting.
The reason UPS hasn't been showing accurate tracking is because they didn't want customers to know that the package was at their local facility yesterday afternoon. If customers knew the iPhones were a few miles away, they could go pick them up early.
That's my point. It SHOWED it was in Kentucky. Because if you knew it was at your local facility yesterday afternoon, you'd have gone to pick it up, or UPS would have had to show it as "Held for future delivery" which it did for some other customers.
So my phone will not be delivered until Monday. I tracked this morning and got the following message:

I called Apple at 5:45 am (pst) and they said that they have no idea what that means and to call UPS. I told them that I have been back and forth more than enough times and up until this morning Apple continued to guarantee delivery on the 19th, so I scored a $30 Apple store credit. I would much rather have my phone today because my old iPhone is broken!
I then called UPS and they told me Express takes 3 days and Apple shipped it a day too late for it to even arrive on the 19th! I'm livid because a co-worker (who ordered days after me) phone is out for delivery! At this point, I would have braved the lines at the Apple store. Highly disappointed with this experience.
Has anyone else had the same status from UPS or received their phone that was shipped on the 17th?
My latest tracking showed that it arrived in Phoenix at 5:45 a.m.. As it was not on a truck for delivery I finally broke down and called UPS. The rep looked it up and said initially "oh, that's international, I'll have to transfer you". Then she said "oh, wait, that's the new iphone, I do have information". (how do they know?) She typed in a few things and then said "Apple instructed a hold on all those so they wouldn't arrive before today. You will have it by 7:00 tonight." I told her the truck didn't come through my neighborhood until after 8:00 last night. She replied "that's either a very slow or very overwhelmed driver." Then she guaranteed it would arrive today. I guess on the upside of waiting all day, is that activation should be easier tonight.
I think I'll go search for photo's and videos of those that camped out!
I was one of those who used the spouses upgrade to get the 3gs. All in all everything took about a hour and a half to complete. Backed up my 3g, activated new phone, switched sims (so my number would be on the new phone), restored new phone to my backup and synced. Not too bad considering I waited 10 days til I got the phone. All is right with the world again (lol).
I'm a little exhausted from all the frenzy and anxiety waiting for the phone.
