Call Forwarding - Can it be set up abroad?

My step father is leaving the country tomorrow and wanted to know if he could set up call forwarding to his prepaid phone when he gets off the plane (and when he knows the prepaid number), or if he has to set it up now, before he leaves, while iPhone is connected to the AT&T network. Any ideas?

Don't really know. The iPhone manual says, "You must be in range of the cellular network when you set iPhone to forward calls, or calls won’t be forwarded." Nothing specified about a roaming network.

The AT&T Answer Center doesn't say either: http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&solutionId=KB65 863

Why don't you cal AT&T customer service and ask: 1-800-331-0500 or 611 from your wireless phone.

To contact AT&T when calling form overseas, call 1-916-843-4685.
